Crowtail rose from her sleeping spot near the medicine cat's den. Silently padding out of the cave, she picked her way around resting warriors and into the edges of the MountainClan camp.
She'd volunteered to take her part of the two-cat camp watch. The wolf was still at large in her home, and she didn't like it. She knew how unsettled the apprentices were. She knew she could outclimb a wolf, even if she couldn't outrun or outfight it. Others, however, didn't posses her natural agility. This creature was an enormous threat.
She wasn't sure who was taking the watch with her. In the fading light from the setting sun, she could see the shapes of other warriors moving in camp, settling to sleep. If no one joined her by nightfall, she'd "appoint" another guard herself. Feeling impatient, she turned her gaze away from camp, to the rocky slopes of the rest of her home.

(Crowtail still isn't out as trans to anyone, right?)
Silvertail sighed loudly as she kept on tossing and turning in her spot near the elder's den. I guess i'm too nervous about the wolf to sleep. She thought. She then noticed a black shape get up from their spot and take at seat near the camp watch. Silvertail blinked as she remembered she had guard duty, and almost forgot. She laughed quietly at herself as she got up.
She fluffed out her fur as she started padding over to Crowtail. She hoped that he didn't mind she was watching with him. She then arrived at two-cat camp watch and settled down next to Crowtail, waving her tail in greeting. The sun was a orangey glow againt the mountains, and it was quite pretty to Silvertail. She took a deep breath as she stared intently at the mountains.

(Correct!)
Ah, finally, someone was up! She barely heard her at first, but Silvertail joined her. The camp would be well guarded.
Happy, Crowtail waved back to Silvertail. She stiffened a little as she settled in, but made an effort to keep visibly calm otherwise. Sometimes, cats being close made her nervous, but she needed to deal with it this evening. Relaxing, Crowtail cast about for something to say.
"I assume you're here for guard duty?" She asked.

Silvertail nodded her head. "I would've forgot if I didn't see you walking by," She mewed to him, her face hot with embrassment. "But, I made it." She mewed, brushing it off. She flicked her tail as a bird flew across the rocky slopes. She purred quietly. "When I was a kit, I would always want to be a bird. I thought they were cool, flying around everywhere, not having to worry about falling to your death." She mewed. "Expect for hawks, I didn't like those." She added with a slight chuckle.

Crowtail flicked her ears, amused. Well, at least Silvertail had come of her own accord. Crowtail wasn't keen on waking cats from their rest, even if it was what needed to happen.
She saw Silvertail's gaze settle on the shape of a bird gliding through the mountains. It was quite idyllic, with its form framed against the setting sun. Crowtail hadn't taken a moment to appreciate it before, but it was a gorgeous view.
She laughed at Silvertail's thoughts on hawks, whiskers twitching. "That's never occurred to me, but I don't think the thoughts of your kit self were all that far off. It would be a much easier to catch prey if you could take to the sky."

Silvertail purred. Good thing he doesn't think I have bees in my brain for saying that. She thought. "I agree with you. We would have prey all the time, probably. I seen hawks carry off some prey I was stalking before. They come out of nowhere, silent. Imangine how'd great if we could do that." She mewed, watching the bird fly beyond the mountains. "Do you ever wonder what's beyond the mountains?" She asked. "I think there's just more twolegplace, really." She added.

Crowtail purred back, but only briefly. She felt a little awkward being friendly with another cat. Relax, mousebrain, she's your clanmate!
Her neck fur bristled a little as Silvertail went on. "It's pretty petrifying when that happens... I'm always glad it's the prey instead of me!" Better that she lose a couple lizards than lose her life to a hawk's talons. She had hunted one before, but that was in the depths of leaf-bare, when even the most hardiest of mountain hares seemed to be running thin. She was still surprised that she'd managed to bring it down.
She couldn't place how Silvertail's question made her feel. "I've, er, never really thought about that," she confessed, fur prickling. What a boring answer! "I don't think that anything could be more of a home than what we have here... but the cats that came here with Mountainstar had to have come from somewhere."

(( I hope you don't mind me jumping in, if you do just say so and I'll delete this ))
Barleypaw was having a hard time sleeping that night, fidgeting in his nest and dreaming of giant beasts tearing up the ground chasing after him. The small medicine cat apprentice shot up, the fur along his spine bristled. Maybe I need to take a walk or something, he thought, getting up and walking out and spotting Crowtail and Silvertail. "Oh, hello," he murmured, taking a seat a few tail-lengths away. "I hope you don't mind if I sit out here for a bit."

Crowtail hadn't heard Barleypaw approaching. Mouse-brain. Don't get so caught up that you're not aware of your surroundings. What kind of sentry does that?
She tried not to appear startled, but couldn't help the little jolt that ran through her body. "Ah, why not. Just don't make a lot of noise." She told Barleypaw. Other cats were sleeping, after all. He wasn't a terribly loud cat, especially for an apprentice, but three voices might be enough to keep others from resting.

Barleypaw nodded in understanding then settled in a bit more to be more comfortable. The thought of those monsters hunting him inside of his dreams still haunted him in the waking world, and the small cat shook his head trying to get rid of them. What's wrong with me? he thought to himself, fur slightly standing on edge.
