Pikepaw crouched, watching the tall grass wave above his head. They may be one of the biggest of the apprentices, but he was still small enough to hide beneath the tall strands. Late afternoon sun illuminated their tips, and a peaceful breeze brushed through them. He waited diligently, watching a long reed twitch... then pounced! They caught it like a bird taking flight, and bit it for good measure. A regrettable decision. He spat bits of grass from their mouth, lips curling. He should stick to real prey.
Suddenly embarrassed, he looked around. Had anyone saw him? It was silly of him to be playing in the grass like this. He was a growing warrior, after all. He was eight moons old! He thrashed his tail, then scampered to peek over the edge of the cliff. Below, in the main body of the camp, cats were milling about. They'd already been hunting and trained today... what should he do now?

Breamstream sat by the fresh-kill pile acting like they usually acted, mellow and chilled. The tabby let out a yawn and glanced over at their apprentice. Watching the apprentice play with the long reeds got a small chuckle for them. They strolled over to younger cat, even Breamstream gait was very much leisurely and laid-back like the warrior. That was thing about Breamstream, was that they were the most laid-back cat in the whole clan. With small smile they greeted the apprentice, "what's up, Pikepaw?" their eyes sparkled with amusement, "I see your playing with the reeds, that's cool."

Splashmint was out picking herbs when she heard voices, planning on ignoring them to keep stocking up on what she needed. She realized she had to intercept them for they were where she needed to be. Padding up to her clanmates, her whiskers twitched, "Good morning, out and about early I see?" Nodding to Breamstream and their apprentice she started biting off stems of horsetail.

Pikepaw's ears twitched as they heard his mentor. He turned, tail twitching. It seemed his mentor had seen him. Tilting their head, they tried not to look embarrassed. "Yeah, cool," he replied. Their mentor was a little offbeat, but Pikepaw liked Breamstream. They never pressured him, or made them feel like they weren't the best cat ever. "I don't really know what to do right now, I'm kind of bored," they admitted. Hopefully Breamstream wouldn't tell the whole camp Pikepaw had been playing in the grass like a kit. Not that they'd mean any harm.
They heard Splashmint before they saw her. "Hey," he replied, dipping his head briefly in respect. They noticed that her collecting herbs... what kind of plant was that again? "Do you need any help carrying stuff back to camp?" he offered. Hopefully Breamstream wouldn't mind- they glanced at them. It was doubtful really, Breamstream never seemed to mind much.

Splashmint put down the stems she was holding, "I would love help," glancing to the mentor she quickly added, "if you two don't already have plans for training, I've got to get this horsetail back to camp, one of the elders has sore paws." Noticing she might look silly from the plant juice on her face she went to clean it off.Instead of swiping her tongue over the juices she rubbed them off with her paw, not wanting her tongue to numb from it's soothing properties.

Breamstream shrugged, "sure, I'm cool with it," they stated, "I haven't planned for anymore training for today" They weren't sure what to yet, to be honest they were quite shocked to get an apprentice. They already trained Pikepaw all day today, they knew that the tom need a break. They gave their chest a quick lick and continued to sitting around and well chill.

Breamstream's response was unsurprising. Pikepaw nodded happily at their mentor, then turned to listen to Splashmint's instructions. He noticed her hurridly clean her face. "Ok," they said. "I can take what you've got already and carry it back to your den. Is that a good idea?" Herbs and such weren't really his thing, but he was glad to help Splashmint.

Splashmint rolled the stems together with her paws, "Yes that's a great idea! You can take this bundle to my den, I need to pick a couple more herbs while I'm out," quickly adding, "Try not to eat too much of the juice inside, that's the part I need." Standing up and stretching the wind ruffled her fur, she drew her gaze toward the beach, contemplating what else she needed.

Foggystar scanned the camp, his green eyes glinting in the sunlight. All seemed to be at peace; the breeze brushed his fur gently, the waves were lapping at the shoreline, and the freshkill pile was full. He licked his paw and drew it over his ear. He would need a deputy soon, he thought.

Pikepaw nodded at Splashmint's instructions. They grabbed the bundle she deposited and turned carefully away. The plants were a bit leaky, and crunchy. He tried to be gentle, but he wasn't really sure how to handle them. They tip-toed back into camp, careful to stay on the ledges and not crush the horsetail. He saw Foggystar sitting in camp. Briefly, he wondered what the leader was doing, but he had a job to do. They waved their tail respectfully to Foggystar, then ducked inside the cave and into the medicine cat's den. He glanced around. All kinds of herbs were scattered around the den... where should he put the horsetail? They settled on putting it near the entrance. Splashmint could rearrange it later if she wanted it somewhere else. Satisfied, Pikepaw peeked outside of the cave into the outdoor part of the camp.
