The sun had risen high above the sea by the time Tornstrike had woken up, his paws still slow and eyes still heavy from the night patrol he'd been on last night, the big tom stretched shaking each of his legs in turn before giving his pelt a few quick licks. His tail tip twitched happily today would be the day he'd take his new apprentice, clever little Turtlepaw, out for her first look at Oceanclan's territory, he couldn't wait to see the little kit skipping around happily and so excited to be out of camp and finally learning how to serve their clan. Tornstrike had mentally prepared himself for every single question she might shoot at him.
As the warrior padded out of their den he almost couldn't help skipping, pausing at the freshkill pile he picked up a trout for them to share before going over to the apprentices cave, setting the fish down he quietly called out her name.

Turtlepaw could smell trout. It invaded her dreams of splashing in a stream, the bodies of the fish brushing against her paws and causing her to slip and fall into the water. When she pushed herself up and out, she opened her eyes to find herself in the apprentice's den. She could see the glimmer of a trout just outside.
Yawning, she stretched. The other apprentices were out, all but Troutpaw. Mudpath hadn't come for him yet. Turtlepaw mentally wished her friend well as she leaped out of the den with her long skinny legs. Tornstrike was waiting for her, a trout at his paws.
Quickly Turtlepaw composed herself. She sat before him, tail curled around her paws, and mewed respectfully, "Good morning."

Troutpaw woke up as Turtlepaw exited the den, the rustle of leaves disturbing his slumber.
"Bye, Turtlepaw, have fun," he called sleepily, resettling himself onto his other side. He was nearly back into his comfortable doze when the realization of his impending tour of Oceanclan territories sent him out of sleepiness and straight into boiling excitement. He fought down his nervousness, trying to mentally ready himself for when Mudpath would come. As much as he didn't want to appear like a small kit, his desire to show Mudpath how excited he was to train with her pushed any desire to be regal and dignified right out of his head.
He glanced down at his pelt, noticing the unkempt bush of his tail. No matter how much he groomed, the fur never laid flat for long. To occupy himself while he waited, he sat up and began to lap at the kinks and spikes in an effort to look like he had devoted a little bit of care to his personal appearance lately.

He caught a glimpse of Troutpaw's excitement just before the small tom was able to hide it, Tornstrike stifled back a snort of amusement and wondered if he should ask Mudpath if they should give the two apprentices a tour together. It'd be good for Turtlepaw to have a familiar and friendly face with her today.
The Oceanclan warrior felt ready to burst with pride when he saw his apprentice, she already had an air of composure and wisdom rarely seen in a cat her age as quiet and reserved as she was he was sure she'd make a fantastic warrior someday. "Mornin' sleepy head," he nosed the trout towards her gently, "Eat up you've got a busy day ahead of ya."

"Of course," Turtlepaw mewed. She bent her head and took a bite of the trout. Realizing how hungry she was, she took another large bite. After swallowing, she let out a satisfied (yet somehow dignified) burp.
"Sorry," she mumbled. She bent her head back down to continue eating.
Meanwhile, in the warrior's den, Mudpath was awakening. Her long brown tabby fur was damp, and to her surprise most of the warrior's den was empty. Yawning, the young warrior padded out of her den to look around the camp. Most cats were gone on patrol or hunting already. She glanced over at the apprentice's den and saw Tornstrike and Turtlepaw.
Mudpath herself had had Troutpaw under her guidance for two moons. He was energetic and kept her on her toes, and Mudpath liked that. I wonder if Tornstrike and Turtlepaw are touring the territory, Mudpath wondered. I wonder if they wouldn't mind the company - Troutpaw and Turtlepaw are friends, after all...
