Silverstorm looked at him with wide eyes. "The boarder....?" Darkeyes whipped her head around and stared at the familiar territory, the now obvious stench of FlameClan filled her scent glands. "Oh StarClan." Darkeyes cursed, completely fluffed up in terror. She couldn't see any cat but that was a rookie mistake, if there had been a patrol by.... Darkeyes wouldn't know what they would have done. "Fox-dung!" She hissed, her tail flicking, "Now there are going to think we are on their territory." She gave her fur a few rough licks, unable to fathom how stupid she had been. "I am so sorry Lightningfoot, I had no idea." She dipped her head like a small kit, feeling awful. She had risked both of their lives doing that, especially with the high tensions between the two Clans.

Lightningfoot, worried, gave her a lick between the ears. "It's all right," he meowed. "You got carried away. Could have happened to any cat."
He pulled away, feeling awkward about the lick. Frowning, he said, "We ought to tell Foxstar we made a mistake. Just in case FlameClan comes calling on it."

Darkeyes looked at him with big golden, worried eyes. "Thanks Lightningfoot," She sighed, feeling a tiny bit better since the tom wasn't made at her, "I can't believe I was so mouse-brained." She looked at her paws feeling disappointed, "But yeah you are right we should head back..... Sorry to ruin your hunting day."

Lightningfoot sighed. "It's all right," he told her reassuringly. "We still caught plenty. Foxstar can't begrudge us that. We can still take it back - the day wasn't a total loss."
After all, I got to know you a little better, he thought. He was glad he hadn't said it aloud, though. They'd had enough awkward moments to last a lifetime.

Darkeyes blinked gratefully at him, he seemed to know what to say to make her feel better. "Okay," She said slowly, "Lets head back." She went to pick up her squirrels when she stopped and looked back at Lightningfoot. "Would... would you want to do this again some time?" She asked, feeling a bit flushed, "We seem to make a good team." She said, looking at their pile of freshkill.

Lightningfoot blinked at the offer. He was gathering up the prey he had caught when she'd asked, and thankfully his back was turned or else she might have caught just how flushed his pelt was.
"S-Sure," he stammered. "Anytime."
He picked up his share of the kill and hurried off, a fluttering feeling in his stomach.

Without thinking Darkeyes let out a happy purr. She didn't mean to sound so excited but she was too happy to care. She grabbed her squirrels and followed him in the thicker parts of the forest. "Well it wasn't a total waste of a day." She thought, her tail flicking with happiness. Darkeyes turned her attention to where she was placing her paws, she didn't want to trip again but it was hard to concentrate.
