The ground underneath Lily's paws was dry and hot. Fae looked ahead of faer at the large expanse of flat-ish earth, squinting in the bright greenleaf sun. Can't be too far. Assuming this clan has anything in common with the other one. Fae sniffed the ground and got a noseful of ashy burnt scent mixed with cat scent. I've probably just crossed the border, Fae thought. Lily turned around and padded back, searching for the scent line. Fae found the line and stepped back onto the rogue side of the border. I've got to handle this differently than I did with the last clan. If this is even a separate group of cats. Fae sat down about a fox length from the border, under the shade of a bush. It's a lot warmer here than in the mountains. I wonder what it's like in leaf bare.

Bluestripe stalked grumpily across the dry earth. It hadn't rained in a good while, and she could feel her bones when she groomed. Things weren't going well for her clan, and she was worried.
Being worried wasn't anything new, but maybe her fears were a little bit founded this time. Maybe. All of her clanmates looked so raggedy, especially the apprentices. It was rare that cats died of hunger, but hunger did make it easier for other illnesses to take hold. And with both MountainClan and ForestClan leering at their borders... it was a spell for future calamity.
Her ears pricked. There seemed to be something moved around ahead of her. She'd come out to hunt and clear her head, but had lost track of things while ruminating. But it seemed luck was with her. Prey was just under her paws. Her mind briefly went to the three kits back in camp- they and their mothers could certainly use some prey.
She inhaled, trying to place the scent. Her lips curled. A different sort of luck seemed to be with her- a rogue on her territory was just what they needed! She would have preferred backup to chase off the ridiculous creature, but she could handle them on her own.
A small grey cat sat ahead of her. Fae didn't look like much of a threat, but Bluestripe wouldn't suffer a rogue in her home. She shot the cat a stern look as she drew closer. It seemed, as she approached, that this cat was just out of the border. Clever. Fae'd probably noticed the border- was fae different than a normal rogue?
Still, a vague scent of rogue mingled with the border markers. Fae'd probably crossed over and left.
Bluestripe decided to cut to the chase.
"This is FlameClan territory. Unless your nose isn't working, I'm sure you can tell," she said firmly. She kept her distance, about two foxlengths from the border.
(sorry this is long af, you can skim the first paragraph if need be.)

((sorry for the super long wait, i had some internet troubles)) Lily straightened faeself up. "I'm aware. I apologize for having crossed the border before hand, I didn't notice it right away. Is this Flameclan?" Lily tried to speak calmly and politely. Fae shuffled faer paws a bit nervously then stopped faeself. I've got to be nice, but I can't look nervous either. I live near these cats and if I look weak they might attack me. For all I know there are only two clans. This might be my last shot.

Bluestripe was a taken aback. A polite trespasser? How odd. And this cat knew about FlameClan? Fae was quite the educated rogue.
She didn't notice Lily's moment of nervousness. "Fair enough. State your business." She was hoping there wouldn't be any trouble. She'd take care of whatever silly thing this cat wanted and be on her way. Buzzardstar would hear about this, of course. Any outsiders could potentially be a threat. Any prey theft at these times could spell a bad ending for her cats...
(no issue! i'm glad your problems are cleared up.)

Lily looked Bluestripe straight in the eyes. "I'd like to learn more about the clans. I live between here and the twolegplace. I'm fairly new to this place and I've heard a lot about the clans here." Fae shuffled faer paws again. Better than last time. At least I know a bit about these cats. Although not as much as I'd like to. "I'm not looking to fight or take your prey. I just want to know more." Lily waved faer tail, a bit excited. Finally I have a chance at actually meeting some other cats around here that aren't kittypets.

A rogue who wanted to learn about the clans?
Bluestripe flexed her claws, uneasy.
"We don't make a habit of giving tours to outsiders. I suggest you keep your nose out." She said, bluntly. She couldn't help but feel curious as to this cat's motives, but this could be nothing but trouble. Buzzardstar would probably agree with her judgement. At least this cat wasn't aggressive.

"Alright. Before I go, are there only two clans?" Lily struggled not to sound disappointed. There had better be another clan. I won't give up this easy. "I've already met a Mountainclan."

Glad that the strange cat was being polite, Bluestripe answered quickly. "No, there are two more of us. We all live in this valley." That was all fae needed to know. She wasn't going to hand out the life history of the clans to a strange cat.
Figuring that was all that needed to be said, she turned away. Unless this cat had any more questions, she would move a short distance and lurk to make sure that fae left.

Lily dipped faer head. "I'll be going then." Fae turned and headed away from the border, out into the thin stretch of mountain the clans did not lay claim to. I'll go to the other side of the valley next. At least I didn't make any enemies this time.
