Brightheart could have scolded her daughter for her sassy response. But since she hadn't strayed too far or caused trouble, she decided to let it slide this time. She smiled fondly and gave Dapplekit's forehead a lick when presented with the leaf. "That's very good!" she purred. She turned her head when she heard Daisykit's question. She felt a surge of pride to see that she was demonstrating the manners that she was trying so hard to teach all her kits. She looked to Dapplekit for the answer. "I'm sure that would be okay, right, Dapplekit? Maybe you can show Daisykit what Lightningfoot has been showing you," she suggested.

Dapplekit purred at her mother's affectionate lick. It was great to impress her mother like that. She watched Lightningfoot as he left. How strong! She would definitely work hard- she needed to be impressive like that cat.
It sounded like he already had an apprentice. Bummer! But there had to be other cool, strong warriors around.
"Who do you think-" she began, turning away from Lightningfoot, but Daisykit's squeak cut her off.
She listened to her exchange with Brightface, and nodded eagerly. "Yes please! You've been asleep for too long. A big white warrior- Lightningfoot- showed me how warriors hunt." She screwed up her face a little. How well did she remember the hunting crouch.
"I can try and show you," she chirped. It was great her sister wasn't being a sleepy hedgehog anymore.

Daisykit blinked in gratitude. She was glad that her siblings were kind to her. She wobbled over to her sister.
"Show me!" she asked. "I'll copy."
