Pikepaw bristled with excitement. His tail held high, he bounced away from the OceanClan camp. They hadn't been out of camp by themself before! But what was even more exciting was that others might be here. He wasn't sure exactly who. Maybe Troutpaw? It would definitely be nice to spend some time with his brother. But Turtlepaw would be even nicer. They wiggled happily, then made a leap over a washed up log. Maybe Turtlepaw would be on her own! But they wouldn't be sad if others showed up. He liked all of his friends.
He didn't want to go too far from camp, to keep out of trouble, and so the others could find him easier. They definitely didn't want to miss out on time with Turtlepaw just because they'd gone too far.

Turtlepaw stretched and let the sun warm her pelt as she gave a quick, nervous wash. Hanging out with the other apprentices sounded nice... but she just didn't like the feeling of too many cats surrounding her. It made her thin limbs get all jittery...
But Pikepaw! Her heart thumped. Pikepaw would be there! His presence would definitely make things better, but only if Troutpaw could keep his mouth shut. She didn't think her heart could take it if Troutpaw blabbed about her crush in front of the other apprentices.
She got to her paws and nervously paced towards the meeting place. Whatever happened would happen - Turtlepaw could only pray to StarClan that things went well...

(others who play oceanclan apprentices can still feel free to join, but since it's been a few days i'm going to reply.)
Pikepaw's ears pricked. Was that pawsteps he heard? Their ears swiveled towards the sound, and they tasted the air. Turtlepaw! Pikepaw was so glad she'd shown up. But he had to keep calm. They didn't want her feeling embarrassed or creeped out. Because, honestly, she probably didn't like them the way they liked her anyway. She was his good friend, he didn't need to bother her with his silly crush.
They turned, tail held high in a greeting. He searched the area, quickly spotting her. They flashed her a broad smile, darting closer before they could remember to not go overboard. He shuffled awkwardly, thinking about what to say.
"Uh, hi!" They said sheepishly, eyes flicking to stare at the ground.

(I wasn't sure if the topic was open to any apprentices, my apologies!)
Troutpaw leapt onto the salt-bleached log he had been hiding behind, keeping his landing quiet. His eyes were wide with excitement, but he had the sense to keep his tail low and away from the noisy reeds. He could see Pikepaw's back as they moved towards the far side of the area, and although he had sharp hearing, he couldn't make out the words that his sibling was saying. He stifled a laugh as he realized that Pikepaw's flustered air came from him being even remotely close to Turtlepaw and it took all his mental strength not to immediately offer his assistence to his brother.
He knew that Pikepaw wouldn't enjoy being embarrassed in front of Turtlepaw, so he decided to keep stalking his way towards the two, ready to intervene if Pikepaw got too nervous. When he was a good distance away from his brother and Turtlepaw, he hid behind a slate grey rock, hoping his pelt would disguise him against the stone.

((Is Pikepaw referred to as they/them or he/his or both? I don't want to get it mixed up))
Turtlepaw flicked her ear at Pikepaw. "Um... hi," she managed, shuffling her paws against the cool ground. She didn't fail to noticed how jittery Pikepaw seemed.
"Are you OK?" she asked. Oh no; did he not want me to come??

(he uses both! he doesn't mind if other cats use them interchangeably, or stick to just one set, as long as they use he or they. and yes, this is open to any oceanclan apprentice.)
Pikepaw felt a pit form in his chest at Turtlepaw's reaction. Had they been to over the top? Or maybe she didn't want to be here. His tail twitching despite his efforts to keep it still. They had to think of something, quick. Maybe simple conversation would help?
"Oh, yes, thank you. Sorry!" He said. They shook their head, then quickly responded. "I think the fresh kill I ate today was left in the sun a little too long, that's all." It was a lie, but he most certainly wasn't going to say "Sorry, I get a little dizzy and jittery when I'm around you because I really like you, and I don't know if you like me! No big deal!"
"I don't know when anyone else will show up, but we can still play a game or something!" They offered. He just needed to get past all the... jittery-ness. Their time with Turtlepaw would be fun!

Turtlepaw blinked happily at the thought of a game. But then worry set in - what if she made a fool out of herself? What if Pikepaw didn't like losing? She shuffled again and tried to keep the tremble out of her tail.
"What would you like to play?" she asked. The area around them had soft ground and little rocks, but plenty of patchy tall grass and bushes, not to mention Turtlepaw could hear the ripple of a shallow stream not far off.

"Hmm." Pikepaw pondered. What kind of games might Turtlepaw like? They hadn't really had a chance to do this kind of thing before. He didn't want to botch it by picking a game she hated.
There weren't enough of them for hide and seek. Maybe... a hunt? They pricked their ears. Yes, that was a good idea.
"I think we could try and... find a swirly brown shell? Whoever gets back here first with one wins." He paused. They couldn't really know if that would be a game Turtlepaw would like. It sounded fine to him, but he couldn't be sure.
"If you don't like that game, we can do a different one," they added quickly.

Turtlepaw blinked. "I like the sound of that," she purred. "There's probably plenty of those shells around here."
She took a quick glance at her surroundings. This place looked like one where snails would hang out. It probably wouldn't be too hard.

Pikepaw brightened at her positive response.
"All right! Do you want to count to three?" He thought it would be a good idea. It would be more fair if they both started at once.
