Squirrelstar flicked an ear appreciatively at the volunteers. She wanted to wait for a few more - there was no way she was going to let Raventail go out with a lackluster guard. Barleypaw was too young to take his mentor's place, and Squirrelstar valued Raventail too much.
Down below, Wolfheart shifted on her paws. Raising her head, she called, "I'll go, too." There was no way she would miss out on protecting one of her Clanmates - nor the chance to possibly meet the creature that was her namesake.

Seated not too far from Wolfheart, Fogwhisker shifted nervously. Although he wouldn't let it show, the thought of wolves in Mountainclan territory terrified him. "I volunteer," He meowed. In all honesty he wasn't completely set on his decision, but it was for the better of the clan. . . Right?

Sheeppaw was sitting quietly next to Wrenstrom and was impressed with the volunteer from the russet tabby. Sheeppaw kneaded the ground, his sharp claws reassuring him but he felt bad he couldn't go. "What use am I sitting in camp?" Sheeppaw thought bitterly, wishing he was a warrior. Sheeppaw also didn't want to miss the chance of possibly seeing or sighting a wolf, although it was dangerous it was a problem MountainClan faced with and Sheeppaw wanted to help figure out how to stop them from straying onto their territory.

Squirrelstar looked at the assembled group. It was a formidable fighting force, to be sure. She made certain to memorize every face - if the wolf got to any of them, she would make each wound she would inflict upon the beast in their honor. Raventail would be well-protected with this lot. "Thank you all for your loyalty," she meowed. "I expect nothing less." Taking another breath, she meowed, "We all have the responsibility to keep a look out for the wolf. Every cat - excluding kits, queens, and elders of course - has a responsibility to keep a look out. Blizzardfur will help Snowfoot organize patrols for now, so that each cat does their fair share - including me. We will get through this. "Be smart," Squirrelstar concluded. To her Clan, her voice was probably the most caring it had ever been. "Be safe." She leaped off of the Pale Stone, signaling the end of the meeting. ((I'll probably shelve the thread away here. I made the thread for the patrol - here - so the cats that were chosen can go over there to continue.))
