Something was on her face. It was warm, and painfully bright. Wait... that was the sun, right? Bluestripe was loathe to peel her eyes open. It was, indeed, the sun. She felt absolutely rotten. A sore ache settled in all of her bones, like a cold in leaf-bare. Except less deadly, and more irritating. She shook her head, fully taking in her surroundings. Other warriors dozed around her, peacefully sleeping as she'd like to be. However, that wasn't to be.
Grumbling to herself, Bluestripe tip-toed around her clanmates and out into the camp. The shadow of the ledge was slowly forming in the rising some. A few of the elders and some warriors had already awoken before her. Bluestripe sat and groomed her chest, trying to clear her irritated, sleepy head. She wasn't hungry, so she didn't have that to worry about. She needed to schedule the border and hunting patrols, then perhaps visit her sister.

Darkhearts's paws twitched as she slept, her chest rising and falling lightly. Her eyes shot open as sunlight reached her. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. You were just dreaming, calm down, She thought to herself. She got up and stretched, making a loud yawn. After that she padded outside of den, realizing that she awakened a bit early- which is strange, since she usually wakes up late. She noticed Bluestripe- who looked very groggy. She padded up to Bluestripe curiously, wondering what was wrong.
"Bluestripe, are you alright? " She asked, her head tipped to one side, and her mew filled with concern for the deputy. I hope she's okay... She thought quickly.

There was a soft meow to her side. Bluestripe turned away from her overgroomed chest to see Darkheart standing close by. Well, of course she wasn't all right, it was the crack of dawn! She flicked her tail, struggling to cover her irritation. It wouldn't be very professional for the deputy to blow up on her own clanmate. She still couldn't force a smile.
"Thank you, Darkheart. It's... too early for me." She meowed flatly. Quickly, she dipped her head, hoping she came across as grateful, and not as stiff as she felt. It was nice of Darkheart to ask about her like that. What was the other cat doing up so early? Bluestripe almost wanted to ask, but wondered if that might be a bit nosy. She decided to change the subject to business.
"Since we're both up, would you help me with the patrols? We're not low on fresh kill, so hunting isn't a priority... but the borders need to be marked." She sniffed in disapproval.
"Especially the ForestClan border, they always seem to need reminding."

Darkheart was a bit taken aback by Bluestripes flat mew. I guess she's not a morning person."Of course I'll help you." Darkheart mewed. "And I agree with you with the ForestClan border." She added, lashing her tail. "If any of thoose fox-hearts crosses the border, they'll have to goet throught me first!" She mewed. "So, how can I help?"

Firetail opened his eyes and couldn't help but grin in anticipation. One warrior out of them all was about to wake up to a silly surprise! He was so tempted to wait it out, to see their reaction for himself - that was always the best part, seeing the frown of indignation turn to a smile, and then laughter - but he spotted Darkheart and Bluestripe standing just outside the den, their paws planted firmly on sunbaked stone.
He glanced over at his sister. He contemplated waking her, but decided not to. He pushed himself up and out of the den, sighing - he'd have to wait for the results later.
Firetail gave a loud yawn once the sun hit his back, and then he asked as he stretched each of his long limbs, "What's up?"

Darkheart looked at Firetail, flicking her ears. "Good Morning, Firetail." Darkheart mewed with a yawn. "Bluestripe and I were going to sort out patrols." She mewed. "Border patrols only, since we have enough fresh-kill." She added, flicking her tail towards the pile. "So, what do you say? Want to go on a patrol?"

Bluestripe warmed to Darkheart's response. She appreciated that the other cat was ready to help, even at such an awful hour. "Thank you. Really, just joining the dawn patrol is enough. I don't suspect any conflict today, so I think just one other warrior will do. I'll be accompanying you all, of course." She nodded at Darkheart's comment on ForestClan. "They're too grabby with the borders. If anyone scents or spots so much as a whisker of ForestClan over the border, I'd like to know." She said, more to the general camp than to Darkheart.
A playful meow came from behind. Bluestripe turned, hearing Darkheart's greeting.
"Yes, what Darkheart said." She affirmed. Firetail was a little immature in her opinion, but he was loyal as any FlameClan cat. She just could stand for a few less acorns left in her nest here and there. "Firetail! I'm glad you're up." She twitched her whiskers approvingly, hoping he would volunteer.

"Sure," Firetail replied. He could do with a morning walk.
The thought of patrolling and making sure his Clan's borders were safe made him feel more energetic. He couldn't wait to get going!

Darkheart purred at Firetail's response. "That's great!" Darkheart mewed. "So, ready to go?" She asked, her tail flicking in anticipation.

Firetail danced on his toes.
"Sure!" he meowed. "Let's get going!" The sooner the better, he figured, but he glanced at Bluestripe. The patrol couldn't leave without her, and she was its leader unless she said otherwise.
