Squirrelfire hopped up the tree as well, stopping on the branch below her apprentice. "Great job, Applepaw!" she purred. "Would you like to keep going, or come back down?"

"Er..." Applepaw muttered, he didn't want the other apprentices to know he backed down from climbing a tree! "I'm going to keep going!" He meowed down to Squirrelfire, hoping he didn't sound as terrified as he felt. He sized up his next jump, his muscles tense and ready. "StarClan help me!" He thought desperately and jumped onto the trunk. Applepaw managed to climb higher and higher, but once he got about three quarters up the tree he gulped as he gazed down to Squirrelfire. "Um... how do we get down?"

Squirrelfire admired his bravery and followed him up the tree. "Getting down is harder, I'll admit. But you have to climb backwards, basically. Just tilt your head to the side and down to see where you are putting your paws, and when you get low enough, jump."
(( *no idea how cats climb down trees XD* ))

((I'm pretty sure that's accurate!! xD))
Applepaw gulped, his fur bristling as he stared at the ground. "Um... okay." He began to climb slowly back down the tree, praying to StarCaln that he wouldn't fall. Finally he managed to jump to the ground, so happy that he could have four paws back on the ground again. "Wasn't... Wasn't that bad." He meowed, trying to sound brave.

Squirrelfire could see the discomfort in Applepaw and smiled softly. "It's okay, we don't have to do it again," she meowed, but she was still impressed with his climbing either way. "I guess now would be the battle training part of today," she purred, thinking of the places they could train.
(( Sorry I've been busy with school D: ))

((Same it's been rough))
Applepaw grinned, letting out a steady purr. "That sounds fun!" He meowed, bristling with excitement. Applepaw had been waiting forever to start battle training. "Hopefully I'll be a better at that!" He joked, his eyes glinting with excitement.

"You'll do great," she purred, then led him through the territory until they arrived in a small clearing surrounded by trees. Squirrelfire signaled with her tail that Applepaw was to stay on one side of the clearing, while she walked to the other. The ginger she-cat got in a crouch similar to the hunting crouch and pulled her tail in close to her body. "This crouch allows you to pounce on your enemies," she explained.

Applepaw studied her carefully, watching her crouch down into the position. Careful of where he was putting his paws, Applepaw moved into the position, pulling his tail close to his body. He hoped he looked decent although he could feel his muscles cramping up. "What am I doing wrong?" He asked, trying to shift his paws so he could be more comfortable.

"Hm, maybe you shouldn't try to do what I just told. Go with your instincts on this one -- what do you feel is the most comfortable and best way to prepare to pounce on an enemy?"

Applepaw pushed himself back up and re-set his position. He crouched liked he was hunting, remembering to pull his tail in but his paws were farther apart, allowing him to be more comfortable. "This." He told her, staying still so she could decide if it was acceptable or not.
